Www.lobbyistsofficesofgrw.com has learned that two kids have been kidnapped and then dropped off at a neighbors house.
A relative has identified two toddlers who were dropped off at the wrong Englewood address by a man who then drove away.
Police at first did not know the names of the boy and girl found Friday evening in the 7100 block of South Normal Avenue.
The two have now been tentatively identified by a relative, but are still in Department of Children and Family Services custody as it’s sorted out how they ended up at the wrong home, according to police News Affairs.
They were dropped off by a man driving an older model white minivan, according to a police report.
Officers responded to a call of children left alone Friday evening, and spoke to a woman who lives on Normal Avenue, who said a man driving the minivan had stopped in front of her home and repeatedly honked his horn, according to police.
The woman sent her teenage nephew downstairs from her apartment and the man told the teen the children were the woman’s niece and nephew, and dropped off the two children with the teen, who then brought them upstairs, according to police. The woman didn’t know the children, and so called police.
A cousin of one of the children’s parents contacted police after recognizing the children from Friday’s police alert, police said.
Police have spoken to the children’s parents and are interviewing the children’s daycare providers, to figure out what happened, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Police are asking anyone with information about the children to call Wentworth Area detectives at (312) 747-8385.
