Members of the Missouri National Guard were looking through a wooded area that has been searched before to make sure nothing has been missed.
“As a military policeman, these soldiers are trained to do searches like the law enforcement so they are able to get out here in the trees and bushes and low crawl and use sticks to find clues,” said Missouri National Guard spokeswoman Rachel Knight
“They’re going over it with like a fine tooth comb and they really getting down in there and looking,” said FBI spokesperson Bridget Patton.
Among the usual FBI shirts, more than two dozen men in their camouflage gear joined the search for a missing baby Lisa.
The guard members are part of the Missouri National Guard’s 1139th Military Police Company from Harrisonville. Governor Jay Nixon ordered the guard to step in and help in the search.
What you have here is new manpower, additional manpower, a fresh set of eyes on an area that we already covered, but we want to go back over it again to see if there is anything out there something that will move this investigation forward,” said Patton.
According to the FBI, the location being searched has been searched before, but investigators felt there was a need to go back and check that area inch by inch.
Searchers with sticks scoured through the heavy weeds in that area to make sure nothing was hidden.
The search team was also looking through an area south of Chouteau Elementary School.
The governor’s office said this was a one-day deployment of the National Guard, but the guard spokesperson at the scene said those military members are more than willing to come back if they are needed for future searches.
