When the National Enquirer spilled the beans on some of the more salacious stories contained in author Joe McGinniss‘ upcoming book on Sarah Palin, it was a topic of much discussion, including on this site – mainly due to the story about a supposed sexual encounter between Palin and former NBA star Glen Rice. And while not every news outlet embraced the stories, that seems to be changing as the book’s release (September 20) draws ever closer. Case in point: NBC’s Today Showthis morning ran a segment on the book, including an interview with McGinniss – and a reference to the Palin-Rice encounter.
The Enquirer said yesterday that in the book, McGinniss got confirmation from Rice that the Palin story was true. Well, Today provided the quotes Rice gave to McGinniss, and while the show notes that Rice didn’t specifically say that things got hot and heavy between him and Palin, but it’s pretty clear there was something there:
Mainly, Rice seemed interested in portraying whatever happened in as wholesome a manner as he could. It was “respectful,” not “hurried.” They got to know each other personally. He even went on to say that Palin was “a big crush” of his after whatever did happen between the two happened. All this, of course, might be true (and from the sound of it, Rice is about as kind to Palin as anyone McGinniss interviewed). It still doesn’t change that Sarah Palin and Glen Rice had some sort of relationship way back when…and we’re still trying to wrap our heads around it.
