Mr. Khabir. It is my understanding that the voucher and cash ($20) is only a recommendation at this time. The proposal has been submitted for Board consideration only. We do not have any information regarding if it will be implemented or when.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Derrick Robinson, Human Services Administrator III

As you know many of the homeless shelters in the city in Los Angeles (such as Los Angeles Mission, New Image and People Helping People) have started charging the homeless $7.00 a nite to stay. Several clients at various shelters told me that case managers at these and other shelter have told the clients that either effective July 2011 or August 2011 the DPSS will be providing $20.00 cash and having the G.R. client apply for a voucher to pay for housing. Some clients have said that this is the result of cuts and those clients whose G.R./EBT cards show alcohol purchases and tabacco.

What do you know about any of this.

The goal is to properly inform the homeless of the truth, whatever it is.

Thanks,

A.W. Khabir
